Chapter 4 - Unveiling Unrest

There were two things that were worrying Morpheus since he had entered the ribbon – Firstly, the last time ribbon was sabotaged, it was just one of the barriers being destroyed. But this time, it had been totally re-engineered into oblivion. It just didn't feel right. And secondly…

"The timing is too convenient… As said by Sire, too obvious, in terms of the motive and the culprit. And without comparing this with some Sherlock Holmes spoils, this is too dissatisfyingly clear and obvious to be true." Morpheus walked on, trying to figure out something at the very least while focusing on the energy levels and patterns, tracing out the full plan of the ribbon with the Stream he had sent.

Fact File: Stream is an energy burst that sets vague yet correlated patterns in its path as it moves on, which stay for a few seconds, with one application of its in tracing complicated five dimensional or higher level pathways and areas, and not get traced later on. It is of varying levels, and the one used by Morpheus or those of his or higher rank is called the Dark Stream, the second strongest of all types of Streams.

It can be imagined as tracing a human's vessels with some radio opaque stuff, just that in this case, the 'thing' to be traced is two dimensions higher, or in simpler terms, at least a Google times more complicated. Also in this case, the Stream is the tracer itself…So, your average Barium thingy doesn't exactly stand up for any comparison, right?

...

On the other hand, at Olympus, the usually silent Hall of Gods was echoing with chatter and snickers, except for three of its occupants, who were as silent as the walls of the hall. Actually, that would be a misrepresentation, as the walls were actually whispering amongst themselves from time to time as well– Zeus, Poseidon and Iris. While all this pre-melodrama momentum seemed to be building up, all Iris was doing was thinking about returning to her villa before the episode featuring her favorite punk rock band started. All this while, the faces of both the brother Gods were clouded with similar expressions of anxious pondering, which wasn't a new thing, as they very frequently were having similar expressions lately during their heated arguments. It was Iris who broke the silence, finally tired of all the dramatics

"Lord Zeus, Lord Hades and Thanatos have already gone for setting things back up. I believe he just sent this message as a piece of information or notice or something…"

"You may go Iris." interrupted Poseidon, then turned to Zeus, "You think things are that bad, Zeus?" While he was speaking, Zeus stood with his eyes closed, clearly not in a nice mood, which was no big secret seeing the miniature lightning sparks frenzying around him.

"I do not know... This is the first time this has happened, or," said Zeus with a deep frown, and lowering his voice, "…if I should go by the rumor I heard the last time I visited the Kings' meet at Aaru… This might actually have been the second time." Seeing the puzzled expression of Poseidon, he motioned him to come with him and clapped his hands thrice. With that, the hall suddenly silenced as quickly as a patch of rainforest suddenly finding itself hosting an Anaconda. The Gods vanished from their positions in a moment, all except Hera, who was clearly staring questioningly at him.

Ignoring her, Zeus walked out of the giant Hall, with Poseidon at his side. "I do not know where in the name of Tartarus did Osiris and Shiva make this up from… But, they told us about the fact, which even they are not fully sure of," He said in a strained tone," They were spewing something about there being a partial disintegration of a point near Sýmpan, but He sealed it most probably, as no trace was found, neither of the disruption, nor of Him."

"But, that can't be possible, can it? Hades would have surely found it out if it were anywhere near our universe, and Sympan is not so far from the Membrane." Poseidon voiced out his doubts, which he knew were literally stupid fillers considering their lack of clarity and understanding of the situation.

"Yes, I know that… And that's precisely why I made everyone try to understand that such a thing wasn't possible, or Hades would have told us… And, in light of this event and the response from Hades, I am sure it was only a fluke, that rumor." scowled Zeus, "But, what is disturbing is the fact that it HAS happened now, and we can only hope that Hades doesn't bring back some bad news... Bloody Tartarus, as if I didn't have enough reasons to not want to see that fat fart's face."

...

At that instance, Hades, accompanied by his Lieutenant, was staring at the gaping, yet now healing, warp in the Ribbon, and even in his true five dimensional form, none of them could sense anything amiss, apart from what was clearly being seen by them, literally spreading its 'multidimensional' maw in front of them.

Three of its dimensions were reconstituted when the two of them were joined by the hooded figure of Morpheus, "Well, well, am I a tad late here? This thing's almost done." He sighed.

"Long time no see, Morpheus." Hades whispered. "So, you got to know about this thing as well. I bet your Master couldn't have known of this as soon as we did, with all the work He has."

Morpheus smirked, "The joke is on you Hades. Even you couldn't realize that a tiny something exploded in your very bumflap while you were busy entertaining your dear ladies, leave alone our charming Thanatos, who was busy strolling in parks. Well, I guess the information I needed was what my tracer had already shown." He sighed, "As a fellow being, I'll give you a free piece of advice as festive bonanza …This is bad business, Hades…and you better tell Zeus to be prepared to get his clean shaven face smacked red"

With that, he turned his back to the almost completely restructured Soul Path, and walked silently while dispersing into the Ribbon itself.

With the Path completely repaired, and with a Shade, a spirit of a dead person serving Hades in the underworld, deployed there, Thanatos and Hades departed in different directions without a word, each understanding what they were supposed to do at that moment.
