Right when Ben Li mentioned the named Kun Gu, the 3 elders had their faces warped in shock.
Ben Li saw Wang Liu shivering for an instant before a hint of calculation flickered in his eyes.
He saw Xingjian had held his sword cane tightly in his hand. Murderous sword intention was faintly released that suffocated Ben Li as if a holy sword was dangling above everyone's heads.
And Sect leader's smile disappeared instantly and was replaced with a deep frown. A frown that made all what made him smile turn upside down.
As for Ben Li, seeing the shocked expressions on their faces made him happy as he expected it himself. After all, Poison alchemist were actually notorious criminals who had done way more evil in the name of their Cult that worshipped the devils beyond the heavens. In fact, they even had an era where their Satanic Sect had risen to prominence and spread their nefarious beliefs to all corners of the Immortal God continent. Leaving behind a plague that infected the whole world with bloody ghouls and vicious ogres.
The whole world trembled in fear under their maniacal laughter and submitted under their beliefs before they were resisted by heroes who rose to sacrifice all they had and obliterate the Satanic sect without a trace.
And now, more than 5000 years had passed since their fall, the members who inherited the Dao of poison remained as remnants of their once glorious era and the great inheritance of poison they once worshipped had long disappeared from the annals of history.
Ben Li knew he made a dick move shifting the blame to another person but he knew himself that the truth was all he could see.
Lu Chong was indeed crippled by that crackpot of an old monster. And he was one lucky bastard at that.
If he had known that Kun Gu was one merciless butcher that regards life as sacrifices for the sake of his mad science, then even Ben Li himself didn't have a chance to save Lu Chong from his capture. There was no saving him at that point.
Throughout the conversation they had, Ben Li had determined that the elders had a good idea how Lu Chong got himself into a such a mess. However, they were unable to determine the culprit who had crippled him. And all testimonies pointed that Wang Xie was the only suspect left.
As he assumed that way, then there was practically no need to explain from the beginning as that probably doesn't matter now. And since they were only looking for the culprit, then Ben Li might as well spill the beans. After all, the truth was faster to hear.
After recovering from their shock, the elders calmed down and the atmosphere returned to tranquility. They exchanged glances momentarily and communicated through telepathic messaging.
Then they all focused their gazes on Wang Xie with their Spiritual Awareness sweeping throughout his whole body. Checking every cell in him and scanning every part of his Spirit. And as they were all doing so, they abruptly had their eyebrows raised to what they had discovered.
Ben Li was not the same as they remembered.
Ben Li's Meridians and Acupoints were incredibly fortified to the utmost degree of tempering. His Qi had upgraded to a higher quality almost top 10 in the purest Qi recorded in history. And every blood cell flowing in his veins were emitting invigorating energy that stimulated every part of his body. Nurturing to an astounding degree.
And that's not all, they could see his soul was gigantic as a mountain. They themselves had seen what a soul looks like but compared to the Virtual Soul they saw in Ben Li's mindscape, they felt like that had only seen ants.
To the elders sweeping their Spiritual Awareness over Ben Li's body, they were secretly flabbergasted of his outstanding improvements. Truly worthy calling him a genius.
This changes in him weren't physically noticeable that even Ben Li couldn't exactly determine how great his improvements were when he had run a quick scan of himself. In fact, when Ben Li first came here, even the elders, who had countless years seeing outstanding figures coming and going with their improvements couldn't tell that Ben Li was different from the person 1 week ago. It was simply that unexpected for them.
It was such a surprise that left them speechless for a moment. However, that wasn't important right now.
The reason why they swept their Spiritual Awareness so abruptly without warning was to determine if Ben Li had been poisoned by Kun Gu!
Poison alchemist always had their ways to succeed their objective whether it was by hook or by crook or even massacring everything standing in their way. And leaving their poisoned captives alive was one way they had in planned to annihilate a sect from the inside.
Only after thoroughly scanning all of Ben Li's body did the elder had their hearts relieved as they determined that Ben Li was free from any toxic agents or foreign substances.
They all exchanged glances again and sent telepathic messages to each other.
'It seems that young Wang has improved by an incredible margin. But other than that, I don't seem to sense anything out of the ordinary.'
'Indeed. It seems that this poison alchemist, Kun Gu had spared brat Wang from becoming his infected agent.'
'But that doesn't explain everything. Why would he spare my son knowing that his identity was known? And if this information were to come across us, then he knows well that all masters available will be dispatched to eliminate him.'
'Youre right. Unfortunate as it sounds, the matter of having his identity known cannot be overlooked. Thus, it would be wise to kill young Wang.'
'Questions is, why spare him?'
It took only a second for the elders to sweep the Spiritual Awareness all over Ben Li. Their telepathic conversation also took a second to discuss. Then at the next second, Xingjian abruptly stood up with serious frown on his face. 'It can't be...' he muttered softly before saying, "I have to go to my 9th brat and check his condition once again."
"Wait." Before Xingjian could get out, Sect leader then said. "Leave a sword intent on young Wang for his protection before you go. And report to Master Hong that you need his help to determine your disciple's condition."
Xingjian said nothing and only nodded in agreement before tapping his sword cane on the floor.
With that one tap, Xingjian sent a surge of his sword intent inside Ben Li to which the latter quivered from fear.
For all this time, Ben Li was stunned that the elders had sweep their Spiritual Awareness over him and his heart leaped from his chest as he feared having his secrets exposed.
Then when he saw the elders exchanging glances, he knew that they were having a telepathic conversation and couldn't determine what they were talking about.
Then when Xingjian stood up, his face almost went paper paled and broke in sweat when he saw Xingjian's hurried expression.
Everything was changing in seconds before he could digest what was going on. And when Xingjian sent a surge of his sword intent on his body, he quivered.
Xingjian's Sword intent was digging through his Spirit vessel. Becoming an ethereal layer as he felt the ominous sharp aura brushing pass his flesh and imbedded itself in his spirit.
Just then, cut marks began to show on Ben Li's skin. One after another, cut marks had shown all over his body as if he was getting sliced by an invisible sword. Making him bleed his blood all over as a result.
"You old fool, are you trying to kill him?" Wang Liu frowned in anger seeing his son's plight. Immediately, he pointed his finger at Ben Li and a giant Rune shimmering golden light emerged from his will. That rune shot itself in a form of light inside Ben Li's spirit. Forming a shell that enveloped his entire Spirit vessel that warded of the sword aura emitting from Xingjian's Sword intent.
Xingjian harrumphed coldly seeing Wang Liu getting angry. "What? You speak so much pride when the topic is about your son but the person himself can't even relax his mind to handle a little speck of my sword intent?"
Xingjian shook his head and said nothing more. His figure instantly vanishes from the room.
Sect leader gestured with his hands to calm Wang Liu and smiled at Ben Li before saying. "Young Wang, don't fret. Calm your mind and relax yourself. We are only doing this for your protection."
It took a while before Ben Li could catch his breathe. He truly was frightened by the unexpected changes. One second, he saw all the elders shocked by his news. Then a second later, everything went hectic and old men were already drilling their powers inside his spirit.
Only then did Sect leader mentioned that they were doing this for to protect him did he understand what was going on.
Thus, he breathed in mediation. Attempting to calm his mind by restraining his inhaling bit by bit. Only when he exhaled deeply did his mind returned tranquil and was able to process thoughts correctly.
"Calm enough?" sect leader asked with a smile before pointing his finger at him. "Get ready."
Suddenly, a bright light flashed from his fingertip and it blinded Ben Li from his sight. That bright light instantly entered inside Ben Li and shrouding his spirit with its before ending up inside his mindscape in a form of a tiny sun.
Then all the powers that had drilled itself in Ben Li's spirit died down as if they had gone to sleep. Ben Li could no longer feel the sword aura from Xingjian's Sword intent, the golden aura from Wang Liu's rune and the tiny sun inside his mindscape had dimmed greatly from its brilliance. Indicating that the 'protections' had switched off.
Noticing the lost look on Ben Li's face, sect leader chuckled and said. "It is not good to rely on our protection, young Wang. Keep in mind that we raise eagles, not chickens. If you keep relying on our protections then how will you grow yourself some wings if we keep them furled down?
"That's why, it's best that the protections we left remain dormant to free you. They will only activate themselves if they detect even a sliver of poison inside you.
"And don't worry about having your secrets exposed. Even us old fogeys are tactful enough to ignore private matters." sect leader chuckled to himself and sipped his tea to relax. But Ben Li was far from relaxed as he made a bitter face.
It was unknown what Ben Li was feeling right now. In fact, it felt like he was stripped off all of his clothing for a second for 3 old fogeys to ogle at him before putting back his clothes and acted like nothing happened.
And in that one second, it felt like everything was exposed.
His secrets, his inner thoughts, his inner-demons and even his identity as an ugly human being.
Evil Facebook!
It felt like evil Facebook had done its witchcraft again!
Evil!
"Uhh...hahaha... So, sorry for my lack of gratitude, Sect leader and father. Thank you so much for bestowing upon me your protection." For now, Ben Li could only force a bitter smile and act like nothing happened.
For now, he needed to determine the functions of the intents given to him and determine what action he has to avoid to hide more of his secrets.
Protection?
Protection my foot!
Who would actually protect me in such a creepy way especially when poison only gets me horny?!
