Ben Li was composed unlike his troubled heart but Wang Xie was breathing hastily in agitation knowing how profound this cultivation heritage it was to them.
Cultivation arts specializing in mind tempering weren't rare in the world but they were highly regarded because of their profound application to understand fathomless principles which mortals couldn't comprehend.
And it was incredibly rare for cultivation arts that specializes on soul refining to exist because the unfathomable structures of the soul were still unknown to the experts studying it and most of the mysteries discovered were only the tip of the iceberg.
Calling this cultivation heritage profound is just an underestimation. In fact, it seems to inherit the essential fundamentals of the mind and soul and the connection between them that even if Ben Li and Wang Xie didn't cultivate it but had rather studied it, their understanding of the mind and soul will rise to the next level and they will have less to fear about the tribulations that challenges their mental and spiritual endurance in their coming breakthroughs.
It was just that amazing. And they couldn't help but cheer to themselves that they've hit the jackpot.
However, because there was the word "Demonic", there was no way in hell they would dare to cultivate this because that just reeks with Wang Xie's destiny to becoming an artificial devil!
Weren't they going to crush his destiny?
What's the point in hurrying its progress?
If they were to cultivate it and may perhaps accidentally transform into a devil, how the hell were they going to explain it back at the sect?
Ben Li already had enough of the misunderstandings that could potentially kill him. And he did not want to incur the wrath of so many devil hunters in the world.
Such was why he didn't cultivate it as of yet.
As for Wang Xie, he also didn't want to cultivate it. After all, turning into a monster after his death was his destiny. And having his soul lost control of his hijacked body was no different from being dead without experiencing being killed.
What if he cultivates it and turns into a demon then?
How was he going to explain to Lu Qing then?
Even though in the novel it was only written that Wang Xie died by the hands of Ling Xiufeng and had his soul taken by the devils beyond the heavens to be turned into an artificial devil and that The Ten Commandments of The Demonic Hades Imperial Gospel didn't exist for Wang Xie to encounter and cultivate, he didn't want to risk his luck in the prospects of becoming something below human.
But why were they here for, anyway?
What reason did Ben Li came here for dragging Wang Xie over?
When Wang Xie asked him this, Ben Li then said.
"Because I'm going to cultivate The Ten Commandments of The Demonic Hades Imperial Gospel and you're going to help me with pointers, genius."
When Wang Xie heard this, he was nearly scared to life.
"Are you crazy?!" Wang Xie yelled at him. "Cultivating something that doesn't exist in your novel is bad sign, idiot! Even this type of cultivation heritage is unheard of! What if you accidentally turn yourself into a demon? What are going to do when you become a demon? There are a lot of sects back in the physical realm with religious beliefs that abhors demons with no excuses! The Helios dragon sect is a clear example of them! What if you accidentally run into them and get killed?
"Our lives will be over before Ling Xiufeng can kill us! Or even worst, he kills us instead!"
Wang Xie went wild but what he said did make perfect sense.
There were a lot of cultivation heritages out there in the world. Some were preserved by powerful clans or sects and some were lost in the annals of history. But cultivation techniques preserved as heritages were always powerful and awe-inspiring that it could even lay the foundations to establish influential organizations.
However, none could really say that everyone could safely cultivate whatever cultivation heritage was out there. Most of the time, there are cultivation heritages that will not conform to your principles in life and Dao or perhaps that it didn't fit with your constitution and will risk the chances of going berserk.
And sometimes, there are even heritages that were only suited for demons or other species and if any other species were to cultivate, it might risk the chance of becoming that was not their own species.
Although the power granted by cultivation heritages were alluring, it doesn't change the fact that cultivators are extremely picky when it comes to what powers they cultivate.
Don't mention cultivating a cultivation heritage that even the author himself doesn't know it existed, who would be foolish enough to cultivate it?
Although Ben Li took heed of Wang Xie's warning, he was still insistent on trying it out.
He read aloud the next words inscribed on the first stele.
"First Commandment: The Devil of the heart shall only be seen with a clear Mind and a pure Soul.
"Second Commandment: The Devils of others shall only grind the Mind and mold the Soul.
"Third Commandment: The flames of the Devils shall only cleanse the Soul and temper the Mind.
"Judging by what we have investigated, it seems that in order to cultivate this heritage, we must abide the Commandments first to gain its conceptual powers.
"However, after reading it again, it seems that the commandments only takes effect after certain requirements have been met.
"The 1st commandment dictates that only the ones with a clear mind and a pure soul can see the Devil of the heart. It probably implies that we meditate until our minds have been devoid with all miscellaneous thoughts that concerns our worries while purifying the soul from all distractions. Only then we will be able to see the Devils in the heart..." Ben Li explained to Wang Xie to which the latter scoffed in disdain.
"Meditate until the mind has been devoid of all thoughts? Purify the soul from all distraction? Wow, I thought you were here to cultivate, why the hell are you clowning around here for?!"
"Oh yeah, how about you tell me something insightful to clear my doubts, fellow Daoist! Perhaps you can help us both by doing that!" Ben Li felt a little insulted being provoked so he quipped back.
Wang Xie shook his head and then began to berate.
"Help you? If that's the logical conclusion that you derived from then there's no helping you. You're beyond salvation at this point."
BANG! SHOTS FIRED!
"Listen to yourself. Do you think that expelling all thoughts will actually clear your mind? That's not clearing but emptying the thoughts in your head! Do you think that you'll be able to function right if you had no idea what you're actually doing?!
"Clearing the mind is all about putting all attention into one thought that doesn't branch out and has no sliver of hesitation in it. Think of a thought like killing an idiot and actually doing it without hesitating or thinking of the consequences. With a though like that, all miscellaneous thoughts will naturally disperse and only then will the mind be clear just like what the 1st commandment stated!
"And you actually thought expelling what makes the human brain work is called a clear mind? Or didn't you mean to say that your mind is already blank and because of that, you're dumb?"
BANG! BANG! BANG! TAKING FIRE, NEED ASSISTANCE!
"And also, purifying the soul from all distractions? What hypothesis do you have to claim that having distractions can dirty the soul?! Are you sure you're talking about the soul or your brain?! Because your half-assed theory might be correct if the subject was the latter.
BANG! I'M HIT! I'M HIT! MEDIC!
"The pure soul stated in there is talking about an innocent person or someone who has no guilt to regret. Like a person who hasn't killed anyone or hadn't killed anyone who didn't deserve death.
"And as for a way to purify the soul... That's pure bullshit in my opinion! The topic about souls is still a mystery with fogs so dense you can't see the crux. So, forget purifying the soul, purify your stupidity instead!"
BANG! BANG! MAN DOWN! MAN DOWN!
"Wow, to utter such nonsense with a sense of shame... Thank you for making me feel intellectually superior than you." as Wang Xie mic dropped that, he clapped his hands sarcastically in front of the silent Ben Li who was too tongue-tied to respond.
Even though Ben Li knew cultivation himself since it was his own bullshit, he was no match for Wang Xie's amazing analytical skills in gaining insights to what the fundamentals of the cultivation art was supposed to be explained.
I was just stating what theory I had in mind, you didn't have to be so merciless...
Were geniuses always this merciless when it comes to giving pointers?
Perhaps next time I shouldn't be explaining my bullshit in front of a true expert...
Meanwhile, Wang Xie who was throwing disdainful glances at Ben Li was a bit disappointed in the inside.
I thought because you were the author, perhaps you might know something especially profound when it comes cultivating. But it seems that wasn't the case.
To think you were so sure of transcending to immortal God realm... Transcend your arse!
You should transcend to the basics first!
