"Bonjour, everyone," my English teacher said in her thick English accent.

All eyes turned to her-but not for long. Our attention quickly shifted to the Black Asian girl standing beside her.

"I know, a new face," she chuckled. "This is our foreign exchange student from Canada, and she'll be introducing herself because her name is a special one."

Once again, all eyes were on her. She smiled.

"My name is Temple Adeola Nari Alonge. Just call me Temple... Mmm... I'm sixteen years old, and I'm very fluent in French."

"Thank you, Temple. Please take a seat next to your new seatmate and host, Beau."

And just like that, every pair of eyes turned to me.
