He steps closer, his golden eyes unreadable. "You're trembling." 

Vera scoffs. "Yeah well, near death experiences tend to do that." 

His fingers brushes her wrist, light and careful. "You're not dead." 

"Yet" 

He exhales sharply. "Not ever, if I can help it."

Vera's life wasn't supposed to be this complicated. One moment, she's just trying to keep her head down, and the next, ghosts are literally out to kill her. Yeah, you read that right-ghosts. The kind that don't wait for midnight to mess with you.

He's got this otherworldly vibe, like he just walked out of a cursed fairytale.

His jawline? Sharp enough to cut through glass.

His expression? Colder than your ex's texts.

He doesn't talk much. And let's not forget his weird habit of snapping his fingers to conjure up some invisible shield. Who even does that?

When their paths cross, Vera doesn't know what to think. Is he a friend? A foe? Or just someone who's really good at staring into your soul? Whatever the case, he is impossible to ignore, no matter how hard she tries.
