Zackary Lawson is a vampire, who been around for a thousand years.  He carries a badge as he is the Sheriff of the Small Town of Eldermere.

With each new victim, layers of darkness become more sinister and it threatens to overtake the town he protects and serve.  Then a beautiful new librarian, Amelia Davenport, steps into his life, and feelings he thought he’d buried starts to form. 
She’s smart and warm and he’s instantly attracted to her.  His obsessiveness surface as he takes it upon himself to also becomes her shadowy Protector. As their paths cross and their lives become more intertwined.  Zackary struggles between his need to Protect the town and uncover the Evil, and his growing love and obsession for Amelia.  This threatens to tear him apart.
Zackary and his two deputies must confront both all threats in this murderous mystery that hit the Eldermere. As the bodies pile up, his obsession with Amelia, he soon finds the line between protector and prey becomes blurry.
