After 30 years of waiting, King Ayrshire was finally blessed with twins; Melaina and Marcel. Melaina, red haired and beautiful was the first born and heir to the throne.
Unfortunately, she's stripped of her birth right because she was born normal. Her both parents were powerful wolves and her brother Marcel inherited their genes and was named heir to the throne of Sylvaris.

Melaina is cast aside and treated like a commodity. Her parents force her to accept the marriage proposal of Lord Burton, a man that was five times her age.
While returning from their engagement dinner, Melaina and Marcel are ambushed. Their soldiers are killed and Marcel is stabbed in the heart by a poisoned dagger.
Melania manages to escape and she is rescued by an old nomad.

Marcel's death throws the kingdom into chaos. Eryndor, a rival kingdom, seizes this opportunity and attacks Sylvaris. King Ayrshire and Queen Flora are killed and part of the kingdom is destroyed.

After several months of hiding, Melaina must return home and take back her kingdom.
She dyes her bright red hair and pretends to be her brother. 
She rallies support from former allies of Sylvaris and she leads the army to war against Eryndor.
During the course of the war, several secrets are revealed and Melaina experiences something horrific that changes the course of her mission.
