William walked through the dark corridor, surrounded by the stench of death emanating from the mutilated corpses scattered across the floor. His heavy bat dripped with blood, swaying with every labored step he took, while the blood had soaked into his torn leather boots.

William was no longer the boy he had been four months ago. Back then, he was known as a calm and peaceful person, but now he no longer cared what people called him: the monster, the sadist, or even the madman. All those labels had lost their meaning. He had only one goal filling his mind and fueling his rage: to send those accursed monsters—the grotesque beings that emerged from the mist—back to hell where they belonged.

He knew for certain that he was afflicted with their curse, that his body bore the marks of the corruption that had turned so many into monsters. But he swore that no matter what happened, he would remain human until his last breath. This single thought was the only thing keeping him going, driving him toward his uncertain fate.
