Prince Keiran's voice trembled with restraint. "I should kill you now, Vesper."

Vesper's gaze locked onto his, her eyes filled with tears. "Then why haven't you? One swift thrust of your sword, and I'm dead."

Keiran's jaw clenched, his words heavy with emotions "I'm a fool, Vesper! You've brought nothing but destruction to my kingdom. You killed my brother, sent assassins to slaughter me and my twin... You're my greatest nightmare Vesper and I've vowed to kill you."

Vesper's eyes welled up with tears as Keiran's pain and rage washed over her.

"And yet..." Keiran's voice cracked, his sword arm trembling. "Now that I have the chance to end your life, I find myself... unable."

Vesper's face contorted in a mixture of grief and desperation. "Why can't you?!" she screamed, her body shaking with sobs.

Keiran's eyes met Vesper's, his voice barely above a whisper. "I think I'm foolish enough to have fallen in love with you."

Vesper is the crown princess of Marlenia and Keiran, the Second Prince of Everia. For years, their kingdoms had been at war. In one of those battles, Vesper had defeated and killed the Crown Prince of Everia, the older brother of Keiran and his twin, in a one-on-one duel. This feat was considered astonishing.

Keiran had vowed to his twin brother and father to avenge Orion's death and their kingdom by ending Vesper's life. But when Vesper was finally captured and Keiran was put in charge of her, he found himself drawn to her.
