Jo Yi-Su, a 23-year-old cheerful and kind-hearted woman, moves into a quiet apartment complex, seeking to navigate life and heal from her lonely past. After losing her parents at 15, she has lived under the care of her generous aunt, who supports her financially. Despite her warmth and love for animals, Jo Yi has always yearned for meaningful connections.  

Her mundane life takes a turn when she meets her enigmatic neighbor, Im Ki-Joo, a reserved and aloof young man who keeps to himself. Their first meeting happens over a plate of cookies Jo Yi baked to introduce herself to Ki-Joo's mother, Su-Mi. Despite his cold demeanor, Jo Yi feels drawn to him and starts to find excuses to visit, often leaving cookies for his mother.  

The two share fleeting moments, including an incident where Jo Yi helps Ki-Joo with a cockroach in his apartment, revealing his fear. Slowly, a bond forms as Jo Yi tries to learn more about Ki-Joo, whose life is clouded by secrets and the weight of his family's expectations.
