It all started with a loaf of stale bread. Not just any loaf, mind you, but a particularly unappetizing morsel found in the dankest corner of the dungeon. And the one who coveted this culinary treasure? A seven-year-old girl with white hair and eyes the color of a stormy sea.

Princess Daphne. The same girl who, when presented with the throne by her father, King Alastor—the most feared ruler in the land—preferred a bite of stale bread to the entire kingdom.

King Alastor, a king who had more in common with a grumpy cat than a benevolent ruler, had discovered early on that the quickest way to his daughter's heart was through her stomach. Literally. 

Threats of dungeons? Mildly interesting. 

Threats of withholding food? Grounds for a royal rebellion.
