Orphaned maid Delma has silently served in the royal household for many months, hiding her dazzling good looks under plain clothes and a wig. Her goal is straightforward-to remain invisible and not be tied down with complications of the palace. But it all changes when King Luis comes upon her while she is bathing in the river and becomes instantly smitten by her beauty. Forced to become the king's personal maid, Delma struggles to resist his magnetic pull, even as he makes it clear that he considers her his alone. Thus, she starts making her own plans to get the affections of the king again, even if this would involve desperate measures.

As the tension builds, Delma becomes embroiled in a web of palace intrigue, jealousy, and power play. The plotting of the queen, the relentless pursuit by the king, and the cruel gossip of the maids threaten to overwhelm her. While Luis battles his own conflicting feelings-desiring Delma yet conscious of the pain he inflicts-Delma must draw on her last reserves and take up the fight for her freedom and self-determination.

But it is hard to run from a king's grasp, especially when hearts and fates are intertwined. In danger from all sides, Delma will have to make a choice: just how far will she go to protect herself, and is the life she dreams of still within her grasp?.
