A young girl in secondary school discovers that she is part of a secret subset of humans that must murder every month to satiate the hunger of Below. Using newfound powers as a Mixer, a Hybrid that can control minds, she becomes the sworn kin of a vicious leader, Lei-selle Abaddon, and aids her every criminal act. As she dives deeper into the world of Demons and Hybrids, she realizes that this grueling landscape of viscera is tearing her morality apart. The only thing keeping her together is the fact that Lei-selle has not mauled her first. How will she navigate the darkness of Below and come to terms with the blood she now has on her hands?
On the other hand, the leader of the Abaddon Den, Mrs. Delorez Abaddon, finds herself in a precarious position in Below as she investigates the murder of one of her fellow Demons. As she turns a keener eye on the investigation, she uncovers that an old enemy has returned to wreak havoc on her Den. To further thwart the growth of her Den, the Lightes, angels of Above, pester her for the souls her Demons and Hybrids collect. However, she is not about to hand over precious souls so easily.
