"Hush, don't make a sound," her voice cracked. "You can do this for Mommy, right?" Cara nodded her little head. She knew it was what her mother needed from her, even though she didn't understand why.
 Her mother kissed her on the chick, and then quickly pushed her into the vent. Liquid metal materialized from her hand and sealed the vent, making it look like it couldn't be opened. That was the last memory she had of her mother. True to her words, she never uttered a single word in the presence of anyone.

She couldn't protect her family then, but she promised to get stronger and avenge them. Until then, she would be silent plotting the demise of all those who hurt the ones she loved.
