Ives Deveraux is a vampire prince, the third son of the Deveraux family, one of the 13 ruling vampire families. This obviously means he's powerful; in fact, he's powerful enough he could defeat almost any other vampire or other supernatural being he wishes with almost no struggle.

Unfortunately this doesn't apply when he travels to the castle of one of the most infamous Fae Lords: Ambrose Xanthus, known more commonly as Lord Mourning.

Armed only with a ridiculous amount of confidence and self-assurance, Ives proudly walks into his territory, only to immediately be caught in life-threatening weather. The castle ahead of him, Castle Mourning, is the only possible shelter, so he stumbles to the front step and pounds (knocks very politely and prince-ly) on the door. He is met with an invisible servant that can talk, for whatever reason, and an otherwise empty manor.

The rain hasn't let up, and thus starts a sweet enemies-to-lovers romance.
