Set in the fall of 1993, I WAS NEVER HERE follows the dark, gritty story of a teenage outcast who discovers more than what she had bargained for. 

Sixteen-year-old Kat Hawthorne spends the beginning of her fall semester at Claiborne School of Arts suspended for "starting" an altercation with a popular football player. 

Don't blame Kat, though; blame the guy who harassed her in the first place. But due to his powerful reputation in the community, none of Kat's classmates are on her side. So instead of focusing on her schoolwork, Kat prioritizes her efforts on helping her family pay their bills. 

Perhaps that is what motivates Katherine to claim the five million dollar reward Mayor Katz promised on TV. News reports of slain bodies emerge in different parts of Portland. Many assert that a ravenous beast has claimed the lives of its victims, others rumored that there was to be a serial killer living amongst them.

Kat's search for the truth places her before her old friends, leading her to a strange man appearing as her new neighbor.
