In the year 2076, Tei Akai and his group of four friends attempt to enjoy their youth by going on vacation in the city of Torques. However, a hellish, alternate realm known as 'Insomnium' begins to rapidly leak into the human world.

After being attacked by a demon, the group travels to the hellscape in an effort to stop the spontaneous transformation of Tenoshi civilians into living nightmares. While there, a deadly discovery lands the five in an accident that grants them reality-distorting abilities, called 'defects'. 

Tei Akai uses this power from Hell to burn away evil and protect the people he cares about, hoping to one day make his dead brother proud.
