A man dies but when he opens his eyes Stan Lee is in front of him. 

Turns out this wasn't Stan, but actually the One Above All and is giving the soul before him an opportunity to reincarnate with two wishes and a choice of background before being sent to a universe separate from the rest of his creations as the OAA wants to see how the MC will change things in this universe.
