Ren came from an old family with dark history. His great grandmother claimed herself to be a half vampire. While sharing the same bloodline, Ren is just a normal human who lives a normal life and eat normal foods. As he was boarding a ship on his way to live in a new city, he accidentally drank a juice that was contaminated by a vampire's blood. For normal human's it is poisonous if consumed, but since he still have the DNA of a vampire in his blood he instead transformed and was caught by a Triad who keeps the order of human and nonhuman balance and are responsible for keeping rouge monsters on check. 

"What the fuck?! Is it necessary to chain me? I'm not even attacking anyone!"
