A romantic heartbreaking story about a timid single mother Xiao Xiao and captain Wang Yi, who becomes her son in law.

The year 1932 is their first encounter, when Xiao Xiao saved Wang Yi’s life during the war when he was a starving orphan. She was just a young adult then, and he was a young child.

That same year Xiao Xiao gets trafficked into sexual slavery by the imperial Japanese, what causes her to depart from the young child. Years later she becomes mentally ill and loses memory.

At some point Wang Yi discovers the reason behind her disappearance and mourns Xiao Xiao’s past, wanting to seek justice in her name.

Throughout the process, he eventually gets charmed by the loveliness of his mother in law, despite what the tragedy she went through.
