Once upon a time there was a woman named Ligaya .  Ligaya is a slave in a rich family, the Herrera family. 
One day, the only daughter of the Herrera came from Spain, Ma. Theresa Eleanor Herrera. To marry the man their parents had arranged for her to marry. Ligaya was assigned to take care of Theresa while preparing for the wedding. Theresa is amazed with Ligaya's beauty and intelligence as a mere servant, and Ligaya is impressed by Theresa's humility and natural kindness. They became very close to each other and they fell for each other. That led them to leave the mansion because Theresa didn't want to marry the man she was supposed to marry and she only wanted to be with Ligaya. The man couldn't accept that Theresa pushed back the wedding without a clear reason. So when he found out the truth, he killed Ligaya thinking that Theresa would return to him, but he was wrong. Theresa died with Ligaya that night.
