Gill is recently divorced, shocked that her marriage has broken down leaving her two teenage children and still building her banking management career. Her children are unsettled, sullen and appear to blame her. Gill is desperate to get them interested in life again but is at her wit's end. A friend suggests she asks print room operative Jake (who she remembers as a helpful young man "John") as he will suggest something.  Gill and Jake find a mutual interest in hill walking and Gill goes up a hill and wonders if they will "fall".
