The modern history of Nepal can be traced to the eighteenth century when the Gurkha Shah family assumed power and established its capital in Kathmandu. In the nineteenth century, the Ranas, who were ministers to the kings, assumed real power, and the Shahs became puppet rulers.

Culture of Nepal Nepal was declared a secular country by the Parliament on May 18, 2006. Religions practiced in Nepal are: Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Sikhism, Bon, ancestor worship and animism. The majority of Nepalis are either Hindus or Buddhism.


Nepal can be divided broadly into three ecological zones: the lowland (Terai), the mid-hills and the high mountains. The altitude of the Himalayan region ranges between 4,877 m. to 8,848 m.

Nepal is so famous due to LORD BUDDHA The Lord Buddha was born in 623 BC in the sacred area of Lumbini located in the Terai plains of southern Nepal, testified by the inscription on the pillar erected by the Mauryan Emperor Asoka in 249 BC.

So it is small country but so beautiful by culturally historically and naturally.
