When everything changed, no one was ready. No one was ready for the star to explode in the night sky. No one was ready when the power went out for good, when the cars crashed to a permanent halt and the planes fell from the skies. 

Most of all, no one was ready for magic. When miracles became an every day occurrence and made anything possible, nobody was at all prepared for the nightmares that magic would make reality. 

Vincent Clive, a 21 year old student with crushing debts and endless curiosity wasn’t ready for the universe as he knew it to change in an instant, but ready or not, he was thrust into the changed world like everyone else, and he damned sure wasn’t going to become one of the growing casualties of the magic apocalypse. He was going to become strong, stronger than anyone could have possibly predicted, and he was going to change things even more.
