The world of Gaia IV is a Massive Multiplayer Online Virtual Reality Game where players can explore the harsh realities of magic and technology. Within the system are many monster types who are programmed with an artificial intelligence mapped from the brains of harden criminals stripped of their humanity to be hunted down by players for cash rewards. In the making of the game many mappings were considered failures and fragmented to permanently kill off the AI. However after each AI in the game gets fragmented due to incompatibility a few strands of code survived and bounded more fragmenta to itself creating the Jackals Eye. The eye was the only item of its kind in the game so the coding passed it off as a legendary boon item. More time that passes the more fragments the eye acquires increasing its capacity to learn. This is the story of the Shard.

(A side note I'm experimenting with different writing perspectives and styles so I apologize in advance it this novel confuses some peeps.)
