Tom aged thirty has dealt with schizophrenia for half of his life. It led him to cigarettes which led him to an early death. However he wakes up in a grave in colonial America vastly different  from what the history textbooks talked about. Here Gods exists, magic permeates society, and he’s just been woken up as a zombie by a Voodoo priest otherwise known as a witch doctor.
