This novel series follows the daily life of a high school student Murakami Kazumi a pessimistic, closeminded, who is not good at making friends and would rather keep his distance. He himself went and studied at the famous school in Toky, To a journey to meet his long lost friend who left back at the village.


But It was a long and rocky road as he is a student of one of the lowest classes, And that result's in discrimination and more problems that he has to solve through sheer work. He made friends and they offer help and advice to others while dealing with their inner conflicts. However throughout the series, Kazumi develops special relationships with each of his friends. Through a flashforward, it is revealed that he eventually will pick one of the group, though her identity is not revealed until near the end of the story.
