What would you do if, on your 21st birthday, you get transported to a completely different reality?

Elouise's life has always been hard. She's watched her parents and brother die in a house fire, been rejected by family's at the orphanage, and works multiple jobs to stay afloat. On her 21st birthday, she is gifted with an amazing power and accidentally activates it creating a portal, taking her to a different dimension. This alerts the Dimensional Travel Department (DTD) and they are tasked to bring her back. They soon realize the gift she now possesses and gets recruited to work for the DTD. 

What about her previous life? Is it just okay to leave that easily? And what about this ability? Can she control it? Does she have any other powers as well? 

Will Elouise Fischer finally find a way to put her past behind her, or will it follow her around from dimension to dimension?
