Sean is an ordinary boy living with his mom and grandparents. However, when he and his mom take their annual summer trip to the family beach house Sean's life gets turned upside down by the appearance of a father he's never met in all his sixteen years. And to top it all of, his father's a merman who decides that father-son bonding time can best be had by dragging Sean along with him on his job like a bad parody of 'take-your-kid-to-work-day'. 
If his father had chosen another career, the whole trip might not be so bad. But daddy dearest is the equivalent of a police detective and the oceans have dark undercurrents.
