The world is just as it's always been. As society grows, geniuses emerge. And where geniuses flourish, those known as “monsters” emerge. In the unflattering center of the highs, lows, and deadly competitions of these extraordinary people are the Kindred, a collection of creatures brought together only by their highly regarded Ancestor. They have existed since the dawn of time, but their appearances have become few and far-between. It is in the midst of this decline that the Rivers’ youngest, Leon, discovers that she’s connected to this tucked away part of civilization, in more ways than she’s happy to admit.
