When the thanks-giving feast comes close to its end in the sandmarches a hot wind from the east will come up and bring chaos to the empire. During its turmoil a long hidden and imprisoned evil is released from its prison. A wild hunt and struggle between the forces of order and those craving for power emerges in these dark times. Rovan is drawn into the whirlstorm of official and secret powerful forces to either fall for the seductive allure of evil or walk his destined path. Can he stay on his way when his comrades right and left fall prey to evil and it schemes? And what will happen to him, when he finally meets Lenja, the love of his teen years, and recognizes what time and ambition did to her. Will he be able to save her?
