Ionia, a universe composed of uncountable worlds, was forever changed by the invention of the faerie gates.  These gates connected the worlds and allowed for safe and easy travel for both living beings and goods.  Centuries after their conception, these gates can be found throughout the universe.  The worlds that opened their arms to their otherworldly neighbors found themselves in a long enduring age of prosperity as magic and trade soared to unimaginable heights.   However, just as the brightest of lights tends to cast the greatest of shadows, darkness lurks within the comforts of progress.  

Risa Xiao is a newly minted agent of the law in one of the many connected worlds of Ionia.  Despite being a less than ideal fighter, she managed to graduate at the top of the Academy through a combination of hard work and an innate magical ability to sense the emotions of others.  Soon after her appointment, she was assigned to an emergency task force assembled to investigate and capture a serial killer who made sculptures out of the victims.  Through her investigations, she unwittingly stumbles into the darkest recesses of society and finds herself scouted by a mysterious organization that seems to defy all reasons.
