Aril was born with a stutter. 

Since he was young, he had always stumbled in his words as if there was an invisible door somewhere deep within his throat that chose to open and close at it's own whim.

The children in his foster home would laugh at his attempts to speak but eventually they grew bored and simply ignored him. Left alone, he often wandered the woods by the home where he spent most of his time just looking at the beautiful scenery and eavesdropping on the nobles there who spoke of idle political matters. 

His life was dull, aimless and seemingly without value, until one day while gazing out at the night sky a strange leaf floated unnaturally through the punctured roof above his bed....
